In February 2018 we got visited by Bulgarian, polish and Catalonian students in the Erasmus projekt. This is my reflection about the week.
The day before the students came, i was really nervous. I thought i wasn't going to be able to conduct a conversation in English, but the whole week went great. Alexander, my guest, was really nice and cheerful, and through the whole week we talked about our countries differences, similarities, and a lot of other things. The week they were here was really fun. Everything from the ice skating to the farewell party was great (apart from all my falling in the ice rink). The days was long and exhausting, but i didn't mind. All of it was great.
Spending time with students from other countries was very educational. I read a lot of books in English, but I've never really got a chance to talk English for a longer time. I have a stutter, and every time I've been on vacation I've avoided speaking English because of it. Now, when i had to speak English to be understood, i became better at it. Me and Alexander had a lot if discussions about politics and the differences in the school system. I realised that even if Bulgaria and Sweden both lies in Europe, our countries have a lot of differences. For example the school system, the economy of the country and the differences between the social classes.
The trips we made with the other students was exiting, both the trip to Lund and to Malmö. Even though I’ve been to both Lund and Malmö plenty of times, the things we did was really fun. In Lund we met the Mayor, and went on a guided tour in the Cathedral of Lund. In Malmö we went ice skating, visited a synagogue and the RFSL center where they talked about different sexualities.
I am grateful that i was offered a place in the Erasmus projekt, and that my mother convinced me to accept it. It was a really fun and educational week, and i would recommend anyone to be a part of one of these projects. I have a lot of impressions and memories from this week that i will keep with me for my whole life.
