People change. Things now are not the same as 30 years ago. More advanced technology, a bigger knowledge, and other things change how we live. This survey is about health and lifestyle, and was answered by parents and grandparents. The questions are asked about how things was when they were young, and how it is now. The purpose was to see how health habits has changed from generation to generation, if they have changed at all.
Starting with alcohol, where people drink seems to change with age. The answers by both parents and grandparents show that when they were young most young people drank at parties. Now, they usually drink at home. This can be depending on your social relationships. When you're young you hang out with your friends at parties and nightclubs. When getting older, most people start a family and instead invite friends over for dinner. You can also see this on the most common alcohol. Parents answer that the most common drink young people drank when they were young were beer, a typical party drink. Now they mostly drink wine, an alcohol The amount of alcohol hasn't changed though, it both is and was around 25 cl a week, answers both parents and grandparents.
The following questions were about smoking. Grandparents and parents were asked if they smoked before. Grandparents answers were mixed equally between yes and no. The parents answers showed mostly no.The following question asked if they smoked now, almost all of the grandparents answers said no, and all answers by the parents said no. This match other statistic about smokers decreasing. Smoking is something that has changed a lot since the beginning of the 20th century. Research have given us knowledge about what smoking does to the body. Lung cancer, impaired physical ability, and more has led to that a lot of people quit smoking.
On the question who smoked more before, grandparents answered men, and parents answers were mixed. Who smokes more now, both ages answer that women smoke more. Smoking women have increased. This also match statistics. A survey from 2016 asked to Swedish men and women between the ages 16 and 84 shows that 9.6 percent of the women asked answered that they smoke daily, while only 8.0 percent of the men asked answered the same.
The amount of junk food people eat have increased. Most parents and grandparents answered that they never ate any junk food when they were young. More answers said that they eat more junk food now. This can be because of an increase in fast food restaurants. You can either drive for a couple of minutes to get to one of the restaurants, or order it to your door. It’s so much easier to get fast food now then before.
