Interview to a nurse assistant and her job.
Questions for a nurse
1.- What's your name?
My name is Isvette.
2.-How old are you?
I am 42 years old.
3.-What do you do?
I am a nurse assistant.
4.- How long have you been working on this job?
I’ve been working for 11 years.
5.-What did you study and where?
At IES Vic, to become a nurse assistant.
6.-Why have you chosen this job?
Because when I was young I started to study to be a nurse but I came to Catalonia and I was too old to continue studying this, so I studied for become a nurse assistant.
7.- Do you think your job is going to be necessary in the future?
Yes, it will always be necessary.
8.- What do you like about your job?
I like to be in contact with the patient and comfort him or her.
9.- Is your job vocational?
Yes, it’s completely vocational.
10.- Which is the worst part of your job?
The timetables, see the patients dying and how the family feels about it.
11.- How can we prevent infectious ilnesses?
Cleaning our hands, vegetables, food and fruits.
12.- Which food should we avoid?
We should avoid food with a lot of satured fats and sugars.
13.- Which schedule did you have?
From 7:30 am to 2:30 pm plus the extra shifts from my timetable.
14.- Can you tell us an anecdote?
One day, while I was working, a cuban woman arrived in an ambulance, she was coming from the airport, to see her mom here in Vic. She had a heart attack when she was flying. Unfortunately she died after some hours.
15.- Which things have you learned about this job?
The two most important things that I’ve learned are humanity and responsability.
16.- If you could choose, what would you change about your job?
I would like to change how ill people suffer.
17.- How was this job in the past?
People died when they were really young, there weren’t medicines, pregnant women used to die easily and a lot of ilnesses caused death.
18.- How’s going to be this job in the future?
I think the future is going to be better in this area, technology is going to help a lot, and I think ill people is not going to suffer as much as they do now.

INTERVIEW – A COOK
1. What’s your name?
My name is Paqui Robles.
2. How old are you?
I am 47 years old
3. What’s your job?
I’m a cook in the school “La Vedruna” and I cook for all the students from primary until ESO, including teachers.
4. For how long have you been doing this job?
For 10 years more or less.
5. What kind of preparation do you need to do this job?
Currently I suppose you need cooking classes but I didn’t do any, the most important thing is to have experience.
6. Do you choose the menu?
No, I don’t, a company tells us the menu we have to cook and it’s controlled by a nutritionist.
7. How has your job changed since you started working here?
It has changed a lot, some years ago we used to choose the menu and it wasn’t controlled by anybody. The tools I use now are more sophisticated than the ones I used before.
8. Did you prefer working in another job?
Well, I have always been interested in things related to food and when I got older I saw this was my job.
9. Have you had any diseases while working?
The most typical accident is to get burn, but nothing important.
10. For how many schools have you worked?
I have always worked in La Vedruna.
11. How many people are there working with you?
I work together with another women.
12. For how many people do you cook?
More or less for 215 people, including teachers.
13. How do you think this job will evolve in the future?
I think in the future all the food given to the students will be provided by a catering.
14. Do the teachers have the same menu as the students?
They have the same menu but they have to choose between two dishes.
15. Which food do you make for people with allergies?
We make special food for them depending on their allergy, we have students who are allergic to gluten, nuts, mayonnaise…
